a comfortable base near the Danum Valley Field Centre

Borneo Rainforest Lodge lies within a 438 square kilometre protected area of pristine lowland dipterocarp forest in eastern Sabah. The lodge sits among tall rainforest trees and dense understorey beside the Danum River, approximately two hours from Lahad Datu. Each chalet is raised on stilts and built from locally sourced hardwood, with floor-to-ceiling windows, large verandas, and en suite bathrooms.

The main building includes an open dining area, lounge, library, and viewing deck overlooking the river.

The lodge works closely with the Danum Valley Field Centre to support long-term conservation and research projects, and visiting scientists often share information with guests. Wildlife regularly seen near the lodge includes orangutans, red leaf monkeys, gibbons and hornbills.

Rooms

Guest accommodation is in 30 chalets set along the riverbank and among forest slopes. Each unit is raised on stilts, with wide verandas overlooking the canopy or river.
