Hornbill Lodge is located close to the small riverside settlement of Sukau in eastern Sabah, Malaysian Borneo.

Positioned on the middle reaches of the Kinabatangan River, the lodge offers an affordable base for exploring this productive wildlife corridor. The property is reached by a combination of road and river transfer from Sandakan and sits close to the Menanggul tributary, one of the best areas for viewing proboscis monkeys, hornbills and crocodiles.

The main building is a simple open-sided structure with a dining area, small bar and lounge overlooking the river. A short walkway leads through the gardens to the rooms.

Rooms

Guest accommodation is in eight small wooden chalets set within gardens behind the main area. Rooms are plain but clean, with either double or twin beds, ceiling fans, en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, and a small verandah with seating.

Décor is simple, with tile or timber floors and painted walls, but all rooms are well maintained and provide a good level of comfort given the modest price point.
