Borneo Eagle Resort is located on the small island of Pulau Tiga, off Sabah’s west coast, around a 30-minute speedboat ride from Kuala Penyu and about two hours’ drive southwest of Kota Kinabalu.

Opened in 2018, the resort occupies a private stretch of beach on the island’s western shore, surrounded by clear water, coral reefs and tropical forest. Despite its polished feel, the atmosphere intimate and friendly, with broad views across Kimanis Bay to the Crocker Range on the mainland.

The main building contains a lounge, bar and open-air restaurant facing the beach, with landscaped gardens and pathways leading between villas. The surrounding forest is home to monitor lizards, hornbills and macaques, and the island’s mud-volcano park and coral reefs can be explored on guided walks and snorkelling trips.

Rooms

Guest accommodation is in 13 detached villas set along the beachfront and within the gardens. Each villa has a private plunge pool, large living area and outdoor deck with sea views.

  • Coral Villas – closest to the beach with uninterrupted sea views
  • Spa Villas – set slightly back with larger gardens and outdoor spa
  • Pool Villas – higher category units with larger pools and interiors

All villas feature king beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, minibars and espresso machines.
