Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Sukau Rainforest Lodge is located in the middle section of the Kinabatangan River, close to the small settlement of Sukau in eastern Sabah, Malaysian Borneo.

Built in 1995 and since expanded, it is one of the oldest and best-known lodges on the river. The lodge has good service, professional guiding and relatively high comfort, but also is larger and busier than the smaller, more secluded camps further downstream. Its position near the Menanggul tributary ensures easy access to one of the most productive wildlife zones in the Kinabatangan, and this remains its main strength.

The main building is a large open-sided structure on raised decking overlooking the river, with a dining area, lounge and bar, while boardwalks lead back through gardens and forest to the guest rooms.

Rooms

Guest accommodation is in forty rooms divided between the older Borneo Villas and the newer Villa Rooms, all raised on stilts and connected by covered walkways.

Rooms are well maintained and finished to a higher standard than most Kinabatangan lodges, with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets.
Some rooms include small private decks or river views, while others face the gardens and forest.
