Safari to Khaudum
Khaudum
is a little-visited safari area
in northeast Namibia
elusive and unhabituated wildlife
Set in the northeast of Namibia, Khaudum is a large and very arid national park whose subtle fossilised river ecosystems are of great interest to experienced safari travellers.
But the area is notoriously difficult to access due to the deep Kalahari sand and therefore very little visited.
Khaudum is dominated by dry Kalahari forests, traversed by notoriously difficult sandy tracks.
Water can intermittently be found in the network of ephemeral and fossilised rivers or ‘omurambas’.
A full range of wildlife is present, but animals are shy and unaccustomed to vehicles. The reserve is particularly renowned for large herds of elephants.
