Roving Bushtops South

Roving Bushtops is a single mobile camp with two seasonal homes. From June to October it is based near Kogatende in the northern Serengeti, around a 15-minute drive from the Mara River for the crossings. From December to March it moves to the Kusini area of the southern Serengeti, positioned for the wildebeest calving. It closes between seasons, in April and May and again from November to mid-December.

Unusually, each tent is a self-contained wheeled unit, a “Rover,” that folds up and is towed to the next site, allowing the camp to relocate without leaving a permanent footprint.

The property is operated by Bushtops Camps, a family-owned luxury safari collection that also runs the permanent Serengeti Bushtops in the Wogakuria area of the northern Serengeti and Mara Bushtops in Kenya.

The camp is centred on a reception, lounge and dining area with a fine-wine wall and a small library, leading out to a campfire, with four-course dinners and bush dining.

Rooms

Guest accommodation is in eight large tented suites, with a wraparound wooden deck and a private hot tub.

Beds are king-size, convertible to three singles, and each tent is en-suite with a flush toilet, a bath and both indoor and outdoor showers. Tents have mains power, Wi-Fi (slow and intermittent given the location), a mini-fridge, a safe and a 24-hour personal butler. Two tents can be positioned together to create a family unit.
