Lemala Ndutu Camp
Lemala Ndutu
is a high specification mobile camp
in the Serengeti Southwest area
a delightfully authentic safari experience
Lemala Ndutu Camp is located in the Serengeti Southwest area of northern Tanzania.
This property is owned by Lemala Safaris, which in turn is owned by Tourvest, a large South African travel management company. They are relatively new to the safari scene in Tanzania, but have been very successful in creating a portfolio of traditional tented camps and more substantial lodges, all in good areas, stylishly designed and well-hosted.
The camp is centred on a pair of simple mess tents, containing modest lounge and dining areas, leading out to a campfire.
Rooms
Guest accommodation at Lemala Ndutu Camp is in a total of ten large tents, each with wooden flooring and an indoor bathroom.
Animals in camp
One aspect we always appreciate is the amount of wildlife that can come into camp. Here you can expect to see wildlife around most of the day, whilst at night animals often pass right between the tents, including lions and elephants, which can be rather exciting.
Activities
Lemala Ndutu Camp provides the following guided activities, not all of which are usually included in the price …
- Vehicle safari
- Walking safari
- Bush meals
- Balloon safari : not included
Short season
This camp actually moves locations to track the migration through the park throughout the year. It operates in this area only from the start of December to the end of March, when the migration should be within range.

Map
Serengeti Southwest tends to feature in a very high proportion of trips during the Dec-Mar migration calving season, when it is the epicentre for wildlife viewing.
We also like to include it during the converse May-Nov dry season, when visitor numbers are very low, but there is still good resident wildlife in some areas.
Getting around
The majority of people visiting Serengeti Southwest do so as part of a guided overland safari, so they travel to their camp and around the area in their private vehicle.
A few people visit Serengeti Southwest in isolation, flying in and out of the airstrip at Ndutu. In this case, they travel around the reserve with a vehicle and guide from their camp.
