asDunas is located on the mainland coast, close to the town of Vilanculos in the Bazaruto area in the Southern region of Mozambique.

The lodge is centred on an intimate main building, leading out to two swimming pools.

Safari Tented Suites : x6 : These six rooms extend over 55 sqm and consist of a large safari tent with an attached private bathroom to the rear and a verandah to the front, all under a traditional palm-thatch roof. Each room is fitted with a king bed and a ceiling fan (but no air-conditioning), as well as a private swimming pool out front.

Cottage Suites : x2 : These two 40 sqm rooms are of more conventional construction. Each one also has a king bed and circular plunge pool, but this time they also have air-conditioning.

Bazaruto is one of the best beach areas in southern Africa and can work well in combination with safari in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Malawi.

The usual stay duration is 4-10 nights, with longer trips typically being split across two lodges in the area.

Seasonality

The Bazaruto area is at its best during the May-Nov dry season, but there are good reasons to visit during other months.

Getting there

Access to this whole Bazaruto area is via the airport at Vilanculos, a good sized town in the midst of these beaches.

The primary flight access is via Johannesburg. If you are coming in from safari in countries other than South Africa, there is a good chance that you will need to overnight at one of the airport hotels on the way through.

From the airport at Vilanculos, it is a road transfer of around 20 minutes north to the lodge.
