Malelane is located in the Panorama area of South Africa.
This area is named after a town just to the south of Kruger National Park, on the main N4 highway from Johannesburg east to Mozambique.
It’s dominated by the Crocodile River, which marks the southern boundary of the reserve, with much of the land to the southern side of the river being used for intensive agriculture.

There’s a wide range of lodges along the south side of the river in the Malelane area, offering the possibility of day trips into Kruger. We don’t recommend any of these lodges as a base for safari, since we feel it’s generally much better to stay deep in the bush.
