Travel to Richard’s Bay
Richard’s Bay
is a major commercial port
in KwaZulu Natal
the largest port in the country
Richards Bay is located in the KwaZulu Natal region of South Africa.
Although the lagoons and estuaries in this area are pretty enough, the town of Richards Bay itself is dominated by vast industrial plants and featureless highways.
In fact the port here has been massively extended in recent decades and is now the largest in South Africa. Exports include mineral ores, coal and sugar, whilst oil and other supplies are imported for the KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng provinces.
Richards Bay airport is well served and acts as a hub for the region, so we are occasionally asked to include an overnight here in order to make flight connections.

Unfortunately, as the Richards Bay area is so peripheral for the vast majority of our guests, the accommodation listing here is rather limited.
