Safari to Isiolo Town
Isiolo Town
is a scruffy little town
in northern Kenya

mainly used as a resupply stop
Set to the east of the Laikipia Plateau in northcentral Kenya, the scruffy little town of Isiolo straddles the main North Road.
The town serves only as a pit stop on the way to Samburu.
It also marks the frontier between the Christian Bantu central area and the Muslim Nilotic northern regions, with a marked change in the traditional dress and plenty of prominent minarets.

In all honesty, there’s not much to cause for many of our guests to pass through Isiolo, never mind stop here.
However, if you are intending to combine lodges in Lewa Downs and Samburu and the back road route through the Il Ngwesi Valley is impassible, perhaps due to the river being in flood, then you may find yourself heading back to the main road at Isiolo, before turning north to Archer’s Post.
