The northern sector of South Luangwa is relatively remote and very strong for wildlife, with guest accommodation in a fine selection of intimate camps and offering a range of very strong dry safari activities.

Tafika Camp
Tafika Camp is located in the South Luangwa North area.
The camp is centred on a simple open-sided 'chitenge', leading out to a campfire area above the river.
Guest accommodation is in a total of just six Rooms with outside bathrooms.
Activities include vehicle safari, night vehicle safari, walking safari, hides, mountain-biking safari and cultural interaction.
The primary activity is vehicle safari inside the national park.
Night vehicle is also permitted for a couple of hours after sundown.
The camp is centred on a simple open-sided 'chitenge', leading out to a campfire area above the river.
Microlight safari is only available here quite rarely these days, most commonly in May.
The best time of year is the Jun-Sep dry season, although there are good reasons to visit during other months.

Tafika Walking Trails
Tafika Walking Trails is located in the South Luangwa North area.
Big Lagoon Camp is usually accessed on foot from Tafika Camp.
The camp is centred on an open-sided 'chitenge', leading out to a deck over the lagoon.
Guest accommodation is in just three reedwork rooms with outdoor bathrooms.
Chikoko Tree Camp is usually accessed on foot from Big Lagoon Camp.
The camp is centred on an open-sided 'chitenge', leading out to a deck over the lagoon.
Guest accommodation is in just three reedwork rooms with outdoor bathrooms.
Activities are centred on walking safari and hanging out with the guys.
South Luangwa South
The southern sector of South Luangwa is the most remote and scenic part of the reserve, with guest accommodation several excellent small camps and offering a range of very strong dry safari activities.

Chamilandu Bushcamp is located in the South Luangwa South area.
The camp is centred on a modest open-sided 'chitenge', leading out to a campfire area.
Guest accommodation is in just three elevated Rooms with outdoor bathrooms.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari, walking safari and night vehicle safari.
The primary activity is vehicle safari inside the national park, by day and night.
Walking safari is also high on the agenda and may include deliberate approaches onto elephants and lions.
Lake Malawi
Lake Malawi is a vast inland sea, renowned for its prolific endemic fish species. It contains some gorgeous tropical islands and is surrounded by pretty beaches. Guest accommodation is in a handful of high quality lodges, offering a wide range of marine, active and cultural activities.

Fly : Mfuwe to Likoma Island, via Lilongwe

Kaya Mawa Lodge
Kaya Mawa Lodge is located on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi.
The lodge is centred on a modest open-sided mess at the back of the beach.
Guest accommodation is in three Standard Chalets, starting with the nearby Khuyu Room.
Makungulu Room is a Premium Chalet, on its own small island.
Madimba is a Premium Room set at the top of the peninsular.
Mainja is a Premium, two bedroom house, with a small private swimming pool.
Ulisa is a smaller House with two bedrooms on the beach.
Ndomo is a large villa with four bedrooms.
There is also a small spa facility.
Activities include diving, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking, kite-surfing, water-skiing, quad-biking, walking and village visits.
The area around the lodge is ideal for snorkelling.
Diving is also offered, mainly in search of endemic cyclid fish.
There are not many locations in Africa where waterskiiing is offered.
Kite-surfing can be particular good during the more windy months, especially May-Jul.
Superb village visits are often undertaken on quad-bikes.
