Pumulani Lodge is located in the Lake Malawi area of Malawi.

The lodge (which was designed by Dutch architect G. Hooft Graafland) is set on the lightly wooded hillside, high above the lake. It is centred on a substantial main building, leading out to a swimming pool. There is a further swimming pool down by the beach.

The name Pumulani means “rest well” in the local Chichewa language.

Rooms

Guest accommodation at Pumulani Lodge is in ten very spacious Villas, one of which is a Family Villa with two bedrooms.

It is worth noting that the rooms at this lodge are fitted with conventional air-conditioning units, which is highly appreciated during the hotter months of Sep-Nov.

At the southern end lies Lake Malawi National Park, which covers an area of 95 square kilometres. The primary purpose of the reserve is to protect the incredible marine diversity and two thirds of the area is lake surface.

The other third of the national park is made up of the Nankumba Peninsula around the settlement of Cape Maclear and nine offshore islands including Domwe Island, Mumbo Island and Nankoma Island.
Getting there

The property is usually accessed by shared charter flight from Lilongwe International Airport (often connecting in from the South Luangwa area of eastern Zambia) to the local airport at Monkey Bay, from where it is a road transfer of around 20 minutes.

Connections to other properties around Malawi are mainly made by road.
