a small but scenic private reserve
Nkomazi Reserve (not to be confused with the Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania) is located in the Panorama area of South Africa.
This fairly new 150 square kilometre wildlife reserve sits along the Barberton-Makhonjwa mountain range.
It comprises broad river valleys with large areas of grassland leading into the foothills of the mountains. A varied mixture of wildlife is present although predators can be rather elusive.

We very rarely consider Nkomazi for inclusion in trips, not because we don’t like it, but simply because most guests are too focused on Kruger to consider other options.
The main accommodation option is the relatively upmarket Komati Tented Lodge.
