Travel to Hoedspruit

an interesting wildlife rescue centre

Hoedspruit is located in the Panorama area of South Africa.

The main point of interest in this modest town is Eastgate Airport which is served by regular flights from Johannesburg and, along with the larger airport at Nelspruit to the south, is a major point of access for the greater Kruger area.

Rental vehicle outlets make Hoedspruit a suitable location in which to start or end a self-drive trip.

The town itself is of little interest, although it does have a reasonable array of facilities including filling stations, food and general supply stores.

There is also a well-known animal rescue centre in Hoedspruit, but we rarely include it in trips, since we prefer to remain in the wilderness areas when on safari, rather than doing day trips back to civilization.

Accommodation in Hoedspruit is limited, since most people prefer to head directly into Kruger from here, most likely into the Timbavati Reserve.
