Safari to Tembe
Tembe
is a small reserve
in the northeast of South Africa

expanding across the border into Mozambique
Tembe Elephant Reserve is a 300 square kilometre conservation area backed up against the Mozambique border in the KwaZulu Natal region of South Africa.
Set up in 1983 to protect the last wild herd of elephants in Natal, the reserve now forms part of a new cross-border conservation area, which should become increasingly interesting over the years to come as wildlife numbers increase.
Essentially a broad flatland of thick dry bush land, although there is a full complement of wildlife here it can be quite hard to spot.
Visitor numbers are wonderfully low, with the amount of self-drive vehicles being allowed to enter the reserve each day being strictly limited.
