Safari to Ndumo
Ndumo
is a pretty savanna safari area,
remote and inaccessible

thick vegetation makes for difficult wildlife viewing
Ndumo Reserve is a 100 square kilometre conservation area backed up against the Mozambique border in the Elephant Coast region of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
One of the country’s more beautiful but lesser known reserves, Mdumo essentially a low lying flatland across which the Phongolo River meanders through a network of seasonal pans, surrounded by characteristic yellow fever trees.
Although black and white rhinos, leopards and various antelopes are present, the thick vegetation makes wildlife viewing difficult. But the birding here is very strong and the lakes are heavily populated by hippos.
Unfortunately Ndumo is way too peripheral for most people, in fact we have never once been asked to include it in a trip. Maybe that fact alone will be enough to inspire you to want to visit!
