Travel to Bandipur
Bandipur
is an historic trading centre
in the west of Nepal

an authentic rural outpost
The town of Bandipur is located around 50 km to the southeast of Pokhara in central Nepal.
Once a major commercial centre on the trade route between India and Tibet, Bandipur is a pretty and well-preserved little town, set amongst undulating hills covered with small-scale agriculture, with views over the valley of the Marsyangdi River and the distant Himalayas.
The town fell off the map when a main road was constructed to divert trade from this historic route. With a population of just 15,000 people, it is really more of a village these days.
The cobbled and pedestrian main street is lined with impressive buildings, most dating from the 1700s.

The flow of international visitors through Bandipur is relatively low, making this a pleasantly authentic place to include in an exploration of this part of the country.
The town most commonly fits into a trip between a trek in the Annapurna area and a rafting trip down the Seti River to the wildlife reserve of Chitwan.
