The capital of Kenya, Nairobi is a major city and the primary transport hub for East Africa. It's a typically hectic place, but with some pleasant quiet suburbs, a good range of hotels and some interesting activities, notably the famous giraffe and baby elephant sanctuaries.
Day 1
Arrival : Nairobi International Airport

Giraffe Manor
Giraffe Manor is located in the Langata area to the southwest of Nairobi.
The house is centred on an original 1930's manor house.
Guest accommodation is in twelve rooms of various descriptions.
Activities include visits to the world famous David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and modest vehicle safari inside the national park.
A real highlight is a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Some modest vehicle safari is possible inside Nairobi National Park.
Chyulu Hills
Set 180 km southeast of Nairobi, Chyulu Hills is a peaceful safari area which has the same iconic views of Kilimanjaro as Amboseli, but without the visitor traffic. Guest accommodation is in just a handful of high quality lodges, offering an unusually wide range of safari, active and cultural experiences.

Set 200 km west of Nairobi, Mara Confluence is the sector of the Maasai Mara which is best known for migration river crossings Jul-Oct and has a very wide range of lodge options. But some serious traffic issues.

Sala's Camp is located in the Mara Confluence area.
The camp is centred on an elegant tented mess.
Accommodation is in five Luxury Tents located along the river ...

Activities are centred on daytime vehicle safari, bush picnics and balloon safari.
The primary activity is vehicle safari during daylight hours.
Balloon safari is an excellent but pricey extra.

Set 200 km west of Nairobi, Mara Triangle is the sector of the Maasai Mara which is best known for migration river crossings Jul-Oct, with guest accommodation in a good range of properties and offering a decent range of safari and cultural activities. But with significant traffic issues.

Angama Mara is located in the Mara Triangle area.
The lodge is divided into two halves, each centred on a central building.
Guest accommodation is in 15 Tented Suites in each camp, with private butler service.
Activities include vehicle safari, bush picnics, balloon safari, walking safari and cultural visits.
The primary activity is vehicle safari in the Mara Triangle during daylight hours.
Balloon safari is a fantastic but expensive paid extra.
