Travel to Seti
Seti
is a river in southwest Nepal,
connecting Annapurna to Chitwan
a broad river through scenic mountain country
The Seti River flows from through the mountains of western Nepal, before turning south to reach the Chitwan area.
Also known as Kali Gandaki, this is a substantial river, around 50-100 metres wide, largely quite languid, but with occasional sections of rapids.
Map
In itineraries which combine trekking in the Annapurna Range with safari in Chitwan, the two areas can be combined by means of a two day white-water rafting trip down the Seti River, overnighting at a decent camp at the mid-way point.
The best part of this trip is that it passes through areas which are a very long way from the nearest roads, so the villages tend to be very rural and authentic. The rapids themselves are generally quite modest, but there are points where the water becomes a bit more lively.
All in all, this is a really good way to include a significant rafting trip, without having to commit to specialist trips white-water trips which are often a week or more in duration.
Where to stay
The rafting operators have a simple camp alongside the Seti River, about half way down.
