Travel to Nelspruit
Nelspruit
is the capital of Mpumalanga,
providing access to Kruger
a bustling and fast-growing modern city
Nelspruit is located in the Panorama area of South Africa.
The town was founded in the 1890’s as a trading post for farmers and prospectors during the gold-rush years.
These days there is very little to show of this history, the place having transformed into a fast-growing modern city, the major transport for Mpumalanga Province and commercial hub for trade with Eswatini (Swaziland) and Mozambique.
With the main airport being located some 15 km northeast of the town, the majority of safari travellers avoid the city and head directly north to accommodation in the Hazyview area, or go straight into Kruger itself.

These days almost all of our guests avoid Nelspruit altogether, either by flying into either the much smaller Hoedspruit Airport to the north or direct from Johannesburg into airstrips in the wildlife areas.
We therefore have only a passing knowledge of lodges in the town itself, but enough to include them in your trip if you wish.
