Travel to Hibiscus Coast
Hibiscus Coast
is the sub-tropical coast
running south from Durban
domestic tourism and retirement homes
The Hibiscus Coast runs southwest from the city of Durban to the southern border of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, where it joins the Wild Coast.
The coast is named after the subtropical shrub which flowers here in abundance.
The area comprises an endless string of generally uninspiring settlements with cosy English names such as Margate and Southport, dominated by retirement and holiday homes developments, many of which get jam-packed with domestic holiday makers during the season.

The suburban nature of the area means that it tends to be of little interest to most international visitors, especially when contrasted with the stunning open landscapes of the Wild Coast immediately to the south.
However it’s to the Elephant Coast 100 km northeast of Durban that the majority of our guests ultimately head.
