The capital of Kenya, Nairobi is a major city and the primary transport hub for East Africa. It's a typically hectic place, but with some pleasant quiet suburbs, a good range of hotels and some interesting activities, notably the famous giraffe and baby elephant sanctuaries.

Arrival : Nairobi International Airport

Giraffe Manor
Giraffe Manor is located in the Langata area to the southwest of Nairobi.
The house is centred on an original 1930's manor house.
Guest accommodation is in twelve rooms of various descriptions.
Activities include visits to the world famous David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and modest vehicle safari inside the national park.
A real highlight is a visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Some modest vehicle safari is possible inside Nairobi National Park.
Laikipia South
Set 130 km north of Nairobi, the Laikipia South is much less remote and wild than most safari areas, but does contain several important private wildlife reserves, with a notable focus on rhino conservation. Guest accommodation is in a good range of lodges.

Set 280 km northeast of Nairobi, the Mathew’s Range is a wonderful remote safari area. Guest accommodation is in a handful of very cool camps, offering an unusually wide range of active, safari and cultural activities, notably including rhino tracking and a baby elephant sanctuary.

Saruni Rhino
Saruni Rhino is located in the Mathews Range area.
The camp is centred on a simple open-sided mess building.
Guest accommodation is in just two rather pleasant open-sided thatched bandas ...
... and a larger Family Banda with two bedrooms.
Activities include rhino tracking, walking safari, vehicle safari, visits to the baby elephant sanctuary and cultural interaction.
