Kampala
is the sprawling and chaotic
capital of Uganda

an historical royal hunting area
Located around 20 km north of Lake Victoria, Kampala is the capital of Uganda and the largest city in the country, with a population of around two million people.
Before the British colonial period, the area was a hunting area reserved for the ruler of the country, particularly known for its population of impalas, hence the name.
The modern city is a sprawling urbanisation, with the usual chaotic transport and commerce. It is not an uninteresting place, but it is also not somewhere that tends to feature very often in safari trips.
