Travel to Entebbe
Entebbe
is the flight hub for Uganda,
north of Lake Victoria
the previous capital of Uganda
Previously the capital of Uganda, Entebbe is now a relatively sleepy and pleasant town on the north shore of Lake Victoria.
The present capital, Kampala, lies just 36 km (22 miles) to the northeast.
The town contains some nice colonial era suburbs, with nice bungalows in tree-lined streets. There is also a park, a golf course and several aged lakeside resorts.
Entebbe is renowned for the plane hostage drama that took place here, when the Israeli military stormed a plane that had been hijacked by the Palestinian activists in 1976. Over a hundred hostages were killed.

Entebbe is home to the main international airport for Uganda, so almost all of our guests pass through here at least once, often needing to overnight in order to make flight connections.
There’s actually a surprising amount of interesting activities in the area, including visits to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which lies offshore.
