is a group of historic oases in the Western Desert

a genuinely fascinating and uplifting area to explore

Set out in the Western Desert of Egypt, Dakhla is a cluster of small oases, including Qasr, Mut and Balat.

Parts of these oases are extremely scenic, with palm groves and traditional mud brick architecture, surrounded by stark deserts and dunefields.

The area includes some significant places of interest, including the Deir el-Haggar Temple.

Dakhla is usually visited as part of a week-long overland exploration of the various western oases.

The routing for these expeditions usually starts at Giza and visits Bahariya, Farafra, Dakhla and El Kharga, ending in Luxor.
