Travel to Blyde Canyon Upper
Blyde Canyon Upper
is the top of the escarpment
to the west of Kruger
an impressive and scenic mountain drive
Blyde Canyon Upper is located in the Panorama area of South Africa.
This area includes one of the most impressive and scenic mountain drives in Africa.
Heading north out of Graskop, a loop road heads over to the main escarpment of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg, providing magnificent views east over the Lowveld and Kruger, notably The Pinnacle and God’s Window.
Back on the main road and a little further north are the views down into Bourke’s Luck Potholes and finally The Three Rondavels.
It’s a remarkable sequence of sights, all within the space of 50km.

This road is remarkably thin on decent accommodation options, so this drive is usually done when self-driving between Hazyview and the Kruger reserves in the Timbavati area. That is quite a long day, so you might consider inserting a night at Moholoholo, close to the foot of the escarpment.
