Safari to Lake Mburo
Lake Mburo
is a modest savanna reserve
in the southwest Uganda
some decent motorboat safari and horse-back safari
Set 200 km west of Entebbe, Lake Mburo is a modest wildlife reserve.
It extends over a modest 260 square kilometres and contains some hilly and modestly pretty landscapes.
There is a reasonable range of wildlife, including impalas, waterbucks, topis, hartebeest, zebras, elands, buffaloes and vervet monkeys. Leopards are present, but elusive. There are no elephants, rhinos, cheetahs or lions.
The main activities are modest vehicle safari and more productive motorboat safari out on the lake. There are also options for horse-back safari just outside the main reserve.

Lake Mburo was historically used to break the long road journey between Entebbe and Bwindi Forest.
Around 2010, regular flight services were established on this route and, since the air schedules did not include a landing here, higher quality trips started to avoid Lake Mburo completely.
We have probably not included this area in a single trip since then, the area unfortunately does not warrant the additional cost and hassle of getting there.
However, if you are particularly into horse-riding, it might be worth considering.
