Travel to Chobe Enclave
Chobe Enclave
is a high quality private area
on the fabulous Linyanti Waterfront
home to a handful of pleasantly earthy camps
Chobe Enclave is a private area of the much larger Chobe National Park, set alongside the fabulous Linyanti Waterfront.
Being an exclusive-use area means that the handful of small camps here are able to avoid the heavy vehicle traffic that pollutes the main reserve, making it comparable with the three prime private concessions further south and west along the Linyanti.
The majority of this concession is relatively uninteresting dry mopane woodland. The great joy of the area lies along the western border, where groves of impressive hardwood forest stand above a grassy “beach”, sloping down to the Linyanti River and looking out over the wetlands of the Caprivi Heel.
The handful of simple and authentic camps in this area are all under the same ownership and offer an unusually broad range of activities including safari by vehicle, motorboat, canoe and on foot.

When it comes to trip durations in Botswana, most visitors combine 2, 3 or 4 lodges by light aircraft over 6-12 nights, one of which will usually be here in Linyanti Waterfront, often in combination with further nights at the Victoria Falls and/or down in the Cape.
On balance, the Chobe Enclave is probably the weakest of the four Linyanti areas, but the camps are often well-priced, meaning they may represent the best overall value.
Seasonality
The prime time to visit the Chobe Enclave is during the May-Oct dry season, when the wildlife density along the waterfront can be astounding.
A major focus are the large herds of elephants, which decimate the stands of hardwood trees at the back of the grassy beach. Predator sightings can also be very strong, notably lions, but also leopards and hyenas.
The converse green season months are considerably less productive for wildlife, but the bush is beautiful and there’s always plenty going on to keep you interested.
