End location : Sucre Airport

La Paz

Set in the Andes Mountains of western Bolivia, La Paz is the high altitude capital of the country. Although the location is scenic, the place lacks the grandeur of most major historic cities in South America. It’s appeal lies more in the range of interesting and unusual activities in the greater area.

Salar de Uyuni

There’s a fabulous historic lodge in the surrounding countryside and some really interesting activities, including going down the active mines.

Hotel Museum Cayara

Sucre

Set in the south of Bolivia, Sucre is a beautifully preserved historic Spanish city, previously capital of the country, but these days less than an eighth the size of La Paz.
