Hwange
Set just 130 km south of Victoria Falls, Hwange is the most popular wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe, renowned for the quality of its safari guiding, rich and varied wildlife, authentic walking safari and superb hides, with guest accommodation in around 25 largely earthy and authentic lodges and camps.

Victoria Falls Town
Set in the northwest corner of Zimbabwe, across the river from Zambia, Victoria Falls is one of the most alluring locations in Africa, surprisingly pleasant and undeveloped, with guest accommodation in around 20 diverse hotels and lodges, offering a very wide range of safari, cultural and adrenaline-based activities.

Mana Pools
Set 460 km downstream of Victoria Falls, Mana Pools is a really impressive wilderness, particularly renowned for awesome safari guiding, wild-dogs, hardcore walking safari and intense canoe safari, with guest accommodation in a dozen largely earthy and authentic lodges and camps.

Harare
Set in the northeast of Zimbabwe, Harare is the capital of the country. This substantial city, formerly known as Salisbury, has a pleasant subtropical highland climate and a nice laid-back atmosphere. There is a good range of accommodation options, but our guests rarely need to overnight when connecting through the international airport.

Gonarezhou
Set in the south of Zimbabwe, some 400 km from Harare, Gonarezhou is a remote, scenic, but little visited part of the vast Great Limpopo Trans-Frontier Park, with guest accommodation in fewer than a handful of good quality camps, offering a good range of well-guided safari activities.

Matusadona
Set 300 km downstream of Victoria Falls, Matusadona is a substantial national park on the southern side of the enormous Lake Kariba, with guest accommodation in just a handful of decent lodge options. Although this is a safari area, the emphasis is more on relaxation and water-based activities, effectively serving as a ‘beach break’ at the end of a safari.

Matobo
Set 400 km southeast of Victoria Falls, Matobo is a small national park which encompasses the Matopos Hills, a dramatic landscape of rounded granite outcrops or kopjes. The area is best known for hiking, mountain-biking, rhino tracking, cultural interaction and the grave of Cecil Rhodes. Guest accommodation is in just a couple of decent camps.

Bulawayo
Set in the west of Zimbabwe, 400 km southeast of Victoria Falls, Bulawayo is the second largest city in the Matabeleland region and the business capital of the country, of little interest to most safari travellers.

Kariba
Set in the north of Zimbabwe, 300 km downstream from Victoria Falls, Kariba is a vast lake created by a major hydro-electric dam, with lots of lower-cost accommodation aimed at Harare residents, who mainly come here for fishing.

Eastern Highlands
Three mountain ranges, the Nyanga, Bvumba and Chimanimani mountains make up the eastern side of Zimbabwe on the border with Mozambique. Also known as the Manica Highlands, they have a much cooler and more moist climate, being home to montane forest, evergreen forests and grasslands. The resorts here are often visited on the weekend by the residents of Harare.

Great Zimbabwe
Set 300 km south of Harare, Great Zimbabwe is a renowned eleventh century archaeological site, one of the most important in Southern Africa. These days the ruins are well off the safari routes, but we do occasionally overnight here when connecting Matobo and Gonarezhou areas by road.
