Gambela Expedition Camp
Operating in the very remote Gambela area of southwest Ethiopia, Gambela Expedition Camp is a traditional mobile tented base that we use to support our helicopter explorations of this otherwise inaccessible area.

Situated in a remote position along the Omo River, Lale’s Camp is a relatively simple and intimate base, for the exclusive use of up to eight guests. Operated in partnership with the local people, the camp offers an excellent range of sensitive cultural interactions amongst the wonderful local tribes.

Bale Mountain Lodge
Set in the Harenna Forest area of Bale Mountains National Park, Bale Mountain Lodge is an intimate and rather pleasant little place, with guest accommodation in eight rooms. Activities include guided walks and vehicle safari in this extremely diverse and fascinating area.

Aledeghi Expedition Camp
Aledeghi Expedition Camp is a full service tented safari rig that we are able to deploy to the Aldeghi Reserve for private groups of up to sixteen guests, for a minimum of three nights. Although the wildlife is not so prolific, this is a lovely area and the cultural interaction is very strong.

This is a wonderful area, usually explored on foot and best suited to experienced safari travellers.

Set on the edge of the town of Lalibela, Mezena Lodge is one of the best of the very limited options in the area, with guest accommodation in 30 detached bungalows and facilities including a spa and swimming pool. A reasonable base from which to explore the famous rock-cut churches.​​​​​​​

Set in a remote position to the northeast of Lalibela and accessible only on foot, Lalibela Hudad Retreat is a simply but lovely locally-owned property, which can be tacked on the end of a stay in the town for a night or two in order to enjoy the simple pleasures of this lovely rural area.

Grand Gato Hotel
Set 1 km west of the old town of Harar in southern Ethiopia, Grand Gato Hotel is a very modest modern property, with guest accommodation in 23 rooms. Provides access to the historic mediaeval town and the hyena feeding.

Haile Resort Arba Minch
Set in the Abyssinian Rift Valley area of southern Ethiopia, Haile Resort is positioned on the eastern edge of the town of Arba Minch, overlooking Nech Sar National Park. It’s a large and reasonably reliable hotel, with guest accommodation in 107 rooms and facilities including a decent swimming pool.

Awash Falls Lodge
Set in the southern sector of Awash National Park, Awash Falls Lodge is a relatively simple property with guest accommodation in around 30 rooms and conference facilities, providing access to some modest safari areas and some interesting white-water rafting.

Golden Tulip Addis
Set in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, the Golden Tulip Addis is positioned just off Cameroon Street, around 1 km from the international airport. Guest accommodation is in around 200 rooms, with a range of leisure and business facilities. A reasonable mid-priced option for simple stopovers.

Hyatt Regency Addis
Set in Addis Ababa, the Hyatt Regency Addis is positioned just south of the National Palace in the heart of the city. Guest accommodation is in around 320 rooms, with a range of leisure and business facilities and a nice rooftop swimming pool. A decent mid-priced option.

Best Western Plus Addis
Set in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, the Best Western Plus Addis is positioned just off Cameroon Street, around 1 km from the international airport. Guest accommodation is in around 120 rooms, with a range of leisure and business facilities. A reasonable mid-priced option for simple stopovers.

Goha Hotel

Set in the Abyssinian Rift Valley area of southern Ethiopia, Sabana Beach Resort overlooks the scenic Lake Langano. It’s a modest property, with guest accommodation in 25 cottages. A reasonably pleasant stopover when heading south by road from the capital.

Set in the Abyssinian Rift Valley area of southern Ethiopia, Haile Resort is positioned on the northern end of the town of Hawassa, overlooking a lake of the same name. It’s a large and reasonably reliable hotel, with guest accommodation in around 100 rooms and facilities including a decent swimming pool.

Set in the substantial village of Turmi, around 50 km east of the Omo River, Buska Lodge is a simple property which services the budget safari traffic arriving on the main road into the area and provides access to various tribal groups in the area.

Set in the substantial village of Jinka, around 50 km east of the Omo River, Eco Omo Lodge is a very simple property which provides access to various tribal groups in the area and is convenient for the nearby airstrip.

Mayleko Lodge
Set out of town and close to the airport in Gondar, Mayleko Lodge is relatively simple and functional property, with guest accommodation in 31 rooms and facilities including swimming pool and golf driving range. A decent place to overnight when connecting to early departing or late arriving flights.

Wabe Shebelle Bivouac
Set in the remote south of Ethiopia, Wabe Shebelle Bivouac is a simple overnight camping stop, set in a remote valley, in order to break the long overland journey between Harar in the east and the Bale Mountains in the west.
